A Follow-up to the 2019 Grand Canyon History Symposium

The Grand Canyon Conservancy Monograph Series “Celebrating 100 Years of Grand Canyon National Park. A Gathering of Grand Canyon Historians. Ideas, Arguments, and First Person Accounts” has just been published.

It is a handsome publication (speaking as a graphic designer who has designed a book or two).

It contains the paper Bryan Brown and I wrote and which surprisingly won the 2019 Lee C. Albertson Award. You can find the article about our award on page 2 and then our presentation on Pearce Ferry on page 130.

There were 33 papers presented during this conference, which was celebrating 100 years since the establishment of the Grand Canyon. Bryan and I sat through almost every paper and I can tell you there were some great presentations made that weekend. I probably learned more that weekend about the Grand Canyon than I had in my 40 plus years of visiting it.
