Lois and Steve Hirst, the 2016 Awardees, are shown here presenting the 2019 Lee Albertson Award for Best Presentation to Bryan Brown and Gary Cascio for their paper and presentation entitled "The Other Lee's Ferry: The Historic River Crossing at Pearce Ferry, 1876 to 1938".

Their winning paper was one of 26 presented during the symposium.

The Grand Canyon History Symposium is an Official Grand Canyon National Park Centennial Event.

The Grand Canyon Historical Society has been a part of the gatherings of professional and avocational people who enjoy topics specific to Grand Canyon history.

The goals of each symposium are to increase the knowledge and understanding of the history pertaining to the Grand Canyon and adjacent areas, and to promote communication and sharing among canyon historians, writers and enthusiasts.

Presentations are made by selected speakers who have done specific research in a wide range of Grand Canyon history subjects, including: American Indian history, exploration of the canyon and plateau, mining and prospecting, the Colorado River, Grand Canyon Village, roads and trails, the National Park Service, and many other areas.
